Factory Planning & Construction
Construction of new factories abroad and the closure of smaller production sites

The task/mission
Establishment of an international production system optimised in terms of capacity and costs.
The company
An Austrian mechanical engineering company operating internationally, specialising in mechanical and electronic products. The company has 900 employees across nine sites in Europe.
The situation
Production structures that had evolved over time, a variety of manufacturing processes and excessively high production costs. The aim was to develop a cross-site production concept featuring a higher level of automation and improved delivery capability.
The requirements and expectations
A common approach for all sites. Reducing production costs through greater automation and a reduction in the number of sites.
My role
Development and presentation of a compelling site and production concept to senior management. Coordination with the managing directors of the branches, as well as initiating and overseeing the implementation.
The aim was to build three power plants and reorganise the international production sites.
The solution
Development of a shared operational vision and a cross-site production strategy with clear key performance indicators.
Initiation and management of the full implementation of three power plants (two greenfield and one brownfield project) as well as three satellite sites.
The long-term benefits for the company
Three smaller production sites were closed and the international production structure was reorganised.
The new factory in the Czech Republic began operations in 2022. The production area at the Vienna site was expanded by 20 per cent.
The new site structure and the higher level of automation have resulted in more efficient and cost-effective production sites.
